Introducing Scientometrics: Mapping Microbiology for Letters Incubator

16-04-2018

We are delighted to introduce the fourth Thematic Series for the Letters Incubator on Scientometrics: Mapping Microbiology.

This Thematic Series is guest edited by James RedfernManuel Jesús Cobo Martin and Enrique Herrera Viedma, who are all active researchers in the field of bibliometrics and science mapping. This Series will explore the metrics underlying the global microbiology publishing landscape. With the digital age changing how research outputs are shared, discussed and used, this series will provide a clearer vision of microbiology research across the globe.

Bibliometrics is mainly devoted to measure the scientific production and quantify its quality and scientific impact. In addition, it is also focused on the understanding of the social, intellectual and conceptual structure through bibliographic networks… in this Thematic Series we encourage researchers to utilize data on research outputs such as journal articles, to help explain and understand the complexities of the microbiology community by means of a different bibliometric analysis.

James Redfern, Manuel Jesús Cobo Martin and Enrique Herrera Viedma, Guest editors

You can read their editorial on the importance of this new Thematic Series here.
