Microbe of the Year goes international!

FEMS is proud to announce that we supported VAAM – the German Association for General and Applied Microbiology to internationalize their great Microbe of the Year initiative with the creation of an English page.

With Microbe of the Year, which has been successful in Germany for eight years, the association wants to draw attention to the many small but extremely important organisms that significantly influence and determine our lives.

Aaaaaaaaand the Microbe of the Year 2022 is… the Baker’s yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae!

Previous Microbes of the Year are Myxococcus xanthus, Magnetospirillum, Lactobacillus, Halobacterium salinarum, Streptomyces, Rhizobium, Nostoc
