FEMS Yeast Research is proud to honour Stefan Hohmann with this new Thematic Issue of articles by colleagues and friends of Stefan. Stefan Hohmann made a tremendous contribution to yeast research and to the yeast research community right up to his untimely passing in 2021.

This collection draws upon some of his research and displays the extent of his findings within the field. The articles include topics on yeast systems biology, research on wine yeast, glucose signalling, osmoregulation, genome-scale modelling of metabolism and more. This Thematic Issue illustrates the lasting impact Stefan Hohmann’s research on the yeast research community.
