From the 18th to 24th of November 2020, it was World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2020 with many activities occurring online worldwide. We also left our mark in this global initiative! Some of our activities for the week were:

• published an entry of the #FEMSmicroBlog: “Where are we? Antimicrobial Resistance 2020“; that talks about some of the initiatives that took place this year
• participated in the #BadBugsBookClub discussion on the book The Waiting Rooms by Even Smith that talks about a post-antibiotic crisis world
• posted important facts and statistics about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across our social media platforms
• our JSMEs posted summaries of a selection of FEMS Journal articles related to AMR

Also, this year the EU-JAMRAI has released the first global Antibiotic Resistance Symbol which we wore in all of our online meetings to help raise awareness. The winning symbol designed by David Ljungberg conveys the message of the antibiotic resistance global threat in a way that the public can relate to.
